OVERVIEW
This 6-day itinerary is perfectly timed to coincide with the wildebeest calving season in the southern Serengeti’s Ndutu region. Begin with a flight from Arusha to the heart of the action, where you’ll spend several days immersed in the drama and wonder of the Great Migration’s birthing period. Witness thousands of newborn wildebeest take their first steps—and the predators that follow—during guided game drives. After a final morning on the plains, return to Arusha for a relaxing overnight before your journey home.
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha & Transfer to Ndutu Area
Arrive at JRO, meet your Safari Trackers guide. Fly from Arusha Airport to an airstrip in the Ndutu area (e.g., Ndutu Airstrip). Transfer to a lodge or tented camp strategically located for calving viewing (e.g., Ndutu Safari Lodge or Lake Masek Tented Camp). Afternoon game drive focusing on the calving herds and predator activity.
Dinner and overnight.
Accommodation: Ndutu Safari Lodge or Lake Masek Tented Camp or similar (Full Board)
Day 2 – Day 4: Witnessing the Calving Season
Full days spent exploring the Ndutu plains, witnessing the incredible sight of thousands of newborn wildebeest. Opportunities to see predator-prey interactions as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are drawn to the vulnerable newborns. Your guide will have extensive knowledge of the area and animal behavior during this crucial time.
Enjoy picnic lunches in the bush.

Day 5: Ndutu Game Drive & Flight to Arusha
Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Ndutu area, soaking in the incredible scenes of new life. Transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. Overnight at a comfortable hotel in Arusha (e.g., The African Tulip).
Dinner at the hotel.
Accommodation: The African Tulip or similar (Bed & Breakfast)
Day 6: Departure
Transfer to JRO for your onward flight.
