This 8-day cultural journey through Kenya offers a rich immersion into the nation’s diverse heritage. Start in Nairobi with a visit to the Bomas of Kenya, where traditional dances and homesteads introduce you to the country’s many tribes. Then head to the Maasai Mara for authentic interactions with the Maasai people, exploring their customs and warrior traditions. Fly to the historic island of Lamu to wander ancient alleyways, experience Swahili culture, and sail traditional dhows. Conclude with a visit to a Kikuyu community near Nairobi to learn about Kenya’s largest ethnic group before your departure.
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1-2: Arusha & Tarangire National Park: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and transfer to a family-friendly lodge near Arusha. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon. The next day, embark on your first game drive in Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and baobab trees. Consider an afternoon guided nature walk suitable for children.
Day 3-4: Ngorongoro Crater: Drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater for a full day of wildlife viewing.
